Announcing Our Second Pop-Up Exhibition!

Daa Art Gallery Presents: ‘Can You See Me?’
We are thrilled to announce our next pop-up exhibition, ‘Can You See Me?’, which will be held at 67 York Street, Marylebone, W1H 1QA from July 3rd to July 13th. This exciting show features new works by talented artists Iris Garagnoux (France), Naila Hazell (Azerbaijan), Mona JanMohamadi (Iran), Aoibhin Maguire (Ireland), and Manon Steyaert (France/UK).

Curated by Vittoria Beltrame, the exhibition delves into themes of transparency and intimacy, exploring these concepts through materiality and semi-autobiographical works. The show highlights sight as a crucial sense, linking it to spirituality and the higher power often symbolized by the eye, such as the concept of the third eye. It reflects on how sight influences our perception and understanding of the world and our place within it.

The exhibition aims to underscore the idea of transcendentalism and the way we experience materiality through the human form. Art has the unique power to translate introspective thoughts and ideas into tangible objects that resonate deeply within us. This concept aligns with Maurice Merleau-Ponty's exploration of perception in ‘Phenomenology of Perception’ (1945), where he emphasizes the intertwined nature of our bodily existence and our experience of the world.
Visitors to the exhibition will engage with the artwork on multiple sensory levels. Sound and video elements enhance the experience, encouraging visitors to navigate the space and become acutely aware of their presence within it.

The title, ‘Can You See Me?’, underscores themes of self-expression and the quest for understanding through various artistic forms. Whether through Iris Garagnoux's exploration of bodily transparency, Manon Steyaert's use of materiality, Aoibhin Maguire's layered interpretations of tales and memories, Naila Hazell's vibrant neon portraits, or Mona JanMohamadi's evocative photography, each artist conveys their identity through their chosen medium, making their artwork a true reflection of their soul.
