OVERVIEW
At the present time, how we understand the past and how we attempt to transform old motifs and designs into new ones, especially those established in our collective memory, is considered a big challenge artists encounter. Yet, we should ask ourselves, does modern man have any refuge from the fact that looking back to the past brings about much lassitude with a disturbing memory? It is at this point that the act of reconstructing the familiar, repetitive forms such as those of the architecture and entrances of historic buildings followed by their destruction and deformation could be considered as a starting point for the artist and the addressee. The concept of traversing tradition and nostalgia takes on its meanings between the notions of “to be and not to be”. It is an opportunity for moving away from the impossible and understanding the possible.
Observing the decline of everything in nature, created the idea of making this work of art in my mind. I used traditional Iranian architecture and geometry, and also tried different materials, in order to get the result I expected which could express my message in the form of sculpture. Eventually after trying different kinds of materials, working with acid and metal made me achieve the desired outcome.
