My practice encompasses figurative painting and sculpture with a focus on the human figure, influenced by the world in which it finds itself in. The juxtaposition of paintings and sculptures corresponds to my interest in different types of spaces and different kinds of interaction. I treat my paintings and sculptures as a source of infinite potential alternate framings to get a limitless generation of other images from any part of themselves by reimagining and recycling my own imagery. Such a creation process consists of constantly switching back and forth between the physical and the digital mode of creation. Endless re-enactments and revisions for me mean thinking things anew. Informed by research on a new spatiality of the 21st century, often described as the proliferation of spaces and defined by the hybrid condition of living, recent artworks are analogue representations of the digital and the actual overlaps in everyday life and experiences shaped by their crossover. Drawing on Mark B. N. Hansen's account of experience, the pieces depict the reality of being implicated in an excessive number of processes at various scales and how, in a material sense, the body is the co-processor of all information.

What Is Bothering You?

Daa Art is delighted to announce its second exhibition featuring a selection of figurative artworks by emerging artists in diaspora.
Gilles Deleuze argues that with art we reach “sensation”, or the “being of the sensible,” the sentiendum. In this regard, Deleuze cites Francis Bacon: an artwork produces an effect on the nervous system, not on the brain. With the second exhibition, Daa Art is exploring how figurative artworks transform the body to an extension of the world in which it is situated. The featured artworks try to push us out of our habits of perception and force us to experience the “being of the sensible”. What are you thinking about? What is bothering you? introduce us to unconscious optics as does psychoanalysis to unconscious impulses, i.e. the enlargement of a body does not simply render precise what in any case was visible. It reveals entirely new structural formations of the subject.
